Following their 3-2 loss in Baltimore on Saturday, the Rays have lost three straight and seven of their last nine. Fortunately for them, the Yankees lost, so they didn’t lose ground to atop the AL East. With the win, the Orioles have won two straight after a four-game losing streak, as they hope to close the season out with positive momentum while sitting in the cellar of the division. 

We’re expecting to see Nick Martinez for Tampa and Shane Baz for the Orioles. Martinez was in good form, but he’s given up at least four runs in three of his last four starts, including six runs twice. That said, he’s been excellent on the road, boasting a 2.14 ERA while allowing just 16 runs in 67.1 innings. On the other side, Baltimore hasn’t been very successful in Baz’s starts. In fact, they’ve lost six straight Baz starts, as well as 10 of their last 11. 

There should be a sense of urgency for the Rays on Sunday. They were lucky not to lose ground in the division with yet another loss, and now their best pitcher is on the mound against an offense that is 25th in the league in batting average. Let’s go with the visitors to break their slump.
